Assamese Film Khel–The Game Releases

Ashok Kumar Bishaya's much anticipated film 'Khel–The Game' hits the theatres on October 30 all over. The film is a comeback vehicle not just for filmmaker Bishaya but also for his offsprings - actors Ankur Bishaya and Barsharani Bishaya.

Back in 1998, a movie with relative newcomers created a huge sensation at the box-office. Before this, most Assamese movies had been abject failures at the box-office. The industry was reeling in every sense. But 'Joubane Amoni Kare' proved otherwise. The film not only resurrected the box office but also opened up new avenues for filmmakers, artistes and technicians. The film was produced and directed by Ashok Kumar Bishaya under the banner of Lakshmi Narayan Films. After 'Joubane Amoni Kare', he made movies that had managed to turn in tidy profits like 'Bukur Majhot Jhale', 'Maghot Mamonir Biya', 'Manat Birinar Jwie' and 'I Love You'. Then suddenly, Bishaya disappeared from the scene.

So had Bishaya lost his commercial touch after being in hibernation for well over eight years? 'Joubane Amoni Kare' was a risk that paid off in the nineties. Will his new film 'Khel–The Game' repeat his earlier success and bring a fresh lease of life to a struggling film industry? One will have to wait and watch in the days to come.

The sixth movie to be produced under the banner of Lakshmi Narayan Films, 'Khel–The Game's associate directors are popular actress Barsharani Bishaya and Ankur Bishaya. This new film puts them both in front and behind the camera for the first time in their careers. The film's story, script and dialogues are written by cine-journalist Rajdweep. The film is cinematographed by Hyderabad-based Sheikh Hazrat Taiya, who has worked as an assistant cinematographer in popular Bollywood films like 'Wanted', 'Ready', 'Tere Naam', 'Milenge Milenge', etc. A number of musicians have worked as music directors in the film. They are Dhruba Phukan, Jayanta Pathak, Kamal Rashid and Subil Barg. Noted editor Debangkar Borgohain has worked as the creative director. The film was shot in various locations around Guwahati and it's outskirts.

The various artistes of 'Khel–The Game' are Jayanta Das, Ankur Kumar Bishaya, Barsharani Bishaya, Prankrishna Mahanta, Diganta Sarma, Madhurima Choudhury, Manoj Martin, Navanil Barua, etc.

The production house has always been at the forefront when it comes to introducing newcomers. This time around too, Lakshmi Narayan Films presents two newcomers - Debashish Bhattacharya and Puja Hazarika.
