Anajori Awards - 2016 Announced

A forefront socio-cultural organisation, Anajori has for long been honouring  those individuals who have been playing an influential role in the field of literature-art-culture of the North-East. The organisation has recently announced its annual Anajori Awards - 2016 to be presented to several noted individuals. The eminent social worker, film producer and distributor Shankarlal Goenka has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Noted actor-director and the producer of Kohinoor Theatre, Ratan Lahkar has been conferred with the ‘Mahananda Sarma Memorial Anajori Award’, well-known actor Dinesh Das will be presented with the ‘Indra Bania Memorial Anajori Award’, evergreen mobile theatre actor-director Jibeshwar Deka will be honoured with the ‘Robin Neog Memorial Anajori Award’.

The organisation will present veteran journalist, litterateur, sports organiser and social worker Rajen Borkakati with the Samajratna Award. A journalist who exemplifies truth and integrity, Dhajya Hazarika, joint editor of Asomiya Pratidin, has been conferred with the Best Journalist Award, while noted social worker and Police official Shyamal Prasad Saikia will receive the Manab Sewak Award. Popular singer Dr Sangita Kakati and mobile theatre actress Priyanka Barua have been conferred with the ‘Charu Gohain Memorial Anajori Award’. Dr Iftikhar Ahmed and Dr Manohar Das will be presented with the ‘Hemchandra Goswami Memorial Anajori Award’.

Eminent social worker Noor Hussain and Bhabesh Sarma will be honoured with the ‘Jogen Barman Memorial Anajori Award’, drama activist Roma Kumar Das and actress Darshana Bora will receive the ‘Late Bhuban Chandra Sarma Memorial Anajori Award’, cultural activist and organiser Rajendra Kumar Kalita and Mehtab Hussain will be awarded with the ‘Ambikanath Bhattacharyya Memorial Anajori Award’, noted educationist-social worker Dwijendra Nath Sarma and Dr Arun Sarma will be honoured with the ‘Nalini Chakravarty Memorial Anajori Award’. Nanda Singh Borkula and Kalpana Bordoloi Medhi will both receive the ‘Anajori Sahitya Award’ for their works ‘Ra Baahor Chikmikoni’, a collection of poems, and ‘Mon Phulanir Uraniya Hubash’, a collection of stories respectively. On the other hand, Shridhar Deka’s poem ‘Bibek’ has been adjudged the Best Poem in the poetry competition held at the all Assam level.

As informed by Anajori’s President Ajit Barman and Secretary Alakesh Ranjan Bhattacharyya, the results of mobile theatre and Assamese cinema will be announced on April 6.
