Assamese Film ‘Paglee’ Releases on November 4

Assamese film ‘Paglee’ finally hits the screens in the State and parts of the North East on November 4. Its not often that we get to see female-centric movies on screen. This one’s out to prove that woman-centric films can be quite engaging, entertaining and worth the money spent. A young, simple, fun-loving rustic girl suddenly turns into a destructive, gun-toting vengeance seeker, someone who completely loses her sense of direction and purpose, creating an atmosphere of chaos in town. What exactly compelled her to turn into this insane ‘killer’? Why did she took law into her own hands?

What happened to the promises made by the powers-that-be of bringing about a sea-change in society? What have they done to eradicate corruption and injustice?

The film reveals deep-seated truths beneath the girl’s hostile facade. A female-driven action movie, ‘Paglee’ stars Prastuti Parashar in an action-based avatar. The film written, scripted and directed by Rupjyoti Bora intends to defy the traditional belief that action movies need male leads to attract audiences. The action scenes - designed by Binud Kumbang, will show the heroine daringly taking on villains. The film is produced by Bisheswar Dutta, Nip Konwar and Prema Dutta under the banner of Rim Jim Films. The film was shot in the locations of Assam and Meghalaya by cameramen Suraj Deka and Jiten Boro.

‘Paglee’ is edited by Ashim Sarma. The action scenes are edited by Bollywood’s Prince Ali Khan. Various other roles in ‘Paglee’ are played by Nayan Nirban, Pabitra Pran Bora, Pradip Niscith, Ramen Tamuli, Dhrubajyoti Das, Bishal Bora, Nip Konwar, Bimala Gogoi, Manjit Sarma, child artistes Lisa, Nandini and Barbie among others. The make-up is done by Dhruba Kashyap. Art direction is by Jyoti Bhattacharjya. The songs are rendered by Zubeen Garg, Subasona Dutta and Priyanka Bhorali. The music is scored by Anupam Saikia, Arup Dutta and Ajay Phukan, and background music is directed by Poran Borkotoky. There’s an item song too in the film rendered by Priyanka Bhorali. Songs are choreographed by Ashim Baishya, Ashim Gogoi, Abhi Sonowal and Rupjyoti Bora. Still-photography is by Kamal Barman and Pranjal Pratim.
