Archana's ‘Hello Baba’ Creating Waves

It has become a standard practice for Assamese artistes, both big and small, to post their music videos on the social networking sites almost every alternate day. But from what has been noticed, only a few manage to sustain the interests of music lovers. A new song - ‘Hello Baba’ is currently drawing the attention of people. Beautifully rendered by Archana Kausik, the song is written, composed and musically arranged by Bhadrakanta Das. While it’s choreographed by Dhanjit Das, the videography has been done by Bipul Das. The key roles in the video are played by Utpal Das, Preety Kongana and Adityam. Produced by Hemanta Goswami, the editing is done by Moni Rajkonwar.

Coming from a family of musicians, Archana Kausik showed an inclination towards music in her childhood. After starting her musical lessons at the age of 5, Archana completed her Visharad from Jyoti Kalakendra, in Tezpur and ‘Nipun’ under noted singer Damodar Bora. Her parents, mom Nilima Kotoky being a noted singer herself, always encouraged her in her musical pursuits.

In 1998, she represented Assam in ‘Zee TV Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ and got selected to the third round. She had undergone training in singing in Mumbai under Guru Sanjay Bidyarthi from 1998 to 2000, and also performed at various cultural programmes. Archana also got the opportunity to learn various songs of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha under his wife Mohini Rabha. She has also been associated with legends like Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, Hariharan and Ghulam Ali.

Some of her most notable albums include ‘Archana’, ‘Mor Priyo Geet’, ‘Morom Juraniya’, ‘Kotenu Asa’, ‘Deha Oi’, ‘Bihu Bihu Laagise’ etc. She also lent her voice in Assamese feature films - ‘Ma Tumi Ananya’, ‘Soru Bowari’, ‘Bandhan’ and Assamese mega-serials like ‘Xurar Lohor’, ‘Sangeet Sagar’, ‘Sangeet Lahar’, ‘Ma’ etc. Currently she is working on her new video songs - ‘Dhol Baai Kot Ratanpurat’ and ‘Jaap Maari Olalo’, which will hit the market very soon. The first song has been musically arranged by Ashim Das, the later is written and tuned by Jayanta Sonowal, and musically arranged by Dipkesh Borgohain.
