Chakir Hussain : Creating Waves in Bollywood

A young creative talent from Assam who has managed to carve his own niche in the cutthroat world of Mumbai, home to the Indian film industry, is Chakir Hussain. Chakir, who came from a musical background having studied piano in his childhood, is now creating magic with sound, showcasing his limitless gift for it. Today, he is one of the most sought-after sound engineers of Bollywood. 

Chakir Hussain started his career as a sound engineer in Assam with the media industry in 2007. But he was determined to thrive in a world where the single most valuable asset is creativity. As has been the case with most creative talents, he left his hometown Guwahati for Bollywood after receiving an invitation from a renowned sound engineer, who was impressed with his work in Assam. He was able to strike a chord with the creative folks, including filmmakers and musicians, with his hard work, professionalism and commitment. He persevered in a field that opened up doors to many different types of opportunities. Chakir found himself increasingly in demand. If he was plying his trade as a sound designer-sound editor in some movie, at the same time, he was busy working as a premix engineer-song recording engineer or sound recordist for another film that revealed the true range of his talent.

Since the release of ‘Pied Piper’ in 2013 to the release of the internationally acclaimed ‘The Last Colour’ in the current year, Chakir  has worked in over thirty films, including ‘Shree’, ‘Tumhari Sulu’, ‘Ishq Click’, ‘Kuch Kuch Locha Hai’, ‘Jaggu Dada’, ‘Hero’, ‘Baar Baar Dekho ‘Tum Bin 2’, ‘Mubarakan’, ‘Qarib Qarib Single’, ‘Khati Meethi Setting’, etc. He has also, in addition to films, worked as a sound engineer in over forty telefilms, short films and documentaries. He has shouldered the responsibility of sound in various serials shown on MTV, Star Plus, Colors, Sony, Life OK, NDTV Imagine, etc. Besides working in several Assamese serials and telefilms, Chakir has  worked with a number of well-known brands in the country. He was also the sound designer of King Khan’s Rawan show held in the world’s largest Bollywood Theme Park in Dubai.

Chakir Hussain, who looked after the song editing and mixing works during the 59th and 60th Filmfare Awards, has worked with numerous composers, singers, actors, directors and production houses from India and abroad. Chakir, who bagged the Mirchi Music Award 2018 as the Best Song Engineer of the year, is the co-founder and Director of Operations at the Griebs Music Private Limited, and is the COO of Griebs Media, a film production house, as well as the chief sound engineer of Paresh Music, an audio studio based in Andheri, Mumbai. Griebs Music has released numerous audio albums in Hindi, Bengali and Assamese. On the other hand, Griebs Media, whose serial ‘Sufiana Pyar Mera’ is now being shown on Star Bharat, plans to produce several Hindi and Bengali films in the upcoming months.
