The 62nd National Film Awards were announced in a press conference in New Delhi today. The conference was addressed by Jury Chairpersons Shri Bharathiraja and Shri Kamal Swaroop. Two feature films from Assam also made in to this prestigious award. Assamese film “Othello (we too have our Othellos)” directed by Hemanta Kumar Das has been selected as the Best Assamese Film and Rabha film Orong directed by Suraj Kr. Duwarahhas been selected as the Best Rabha Film. The award constitutes Rajat Kamal and 1,00,000/- each to the Producer and Director.
Earlier in 2014, Othello won Best Screenplay Award in Feature film category at the Indian Cine Film Festival-14 held in Mumbai. Also in February 2015, “Othello (we too have our Othellos)” won Best Film Jury Award at Noida International Film Festival. The film is produced by Manabendra Adhikary under the banner of Artha Film.
On the other hand, Kangana Ranaut won the Best Actress award for her powerful performance in ‘Queen’ at the 62nd National Film Awards where Bollywood movies ‘Haider’ and ‘Mary Kom’ bagged key honours while Chaitanya Tamhane’s ‘Court’ was named the Best Feature Film.
