Child sensation Harshita Utpal has been awarded with the Anajori Award 2015 for her riveting performance in the yet to be released Assamese film ‘Khobh’. She’d comfortably held her own in the presence of seasoned artistes while playing the role of a 12 year old child suffering from terminal disease in the movie directed by Hiren Bora. She has also turned out to be a surprise package of the upcoming ‘Sandhikhon’ directed by M Maniram. Everyone who saw the rushes were simply blown over by her performance in the movie where she plays the role of a physically handicapped. She also plays the role of young Kanchan in popular southern director Faizal’s under-production ‘Kanchan’. Gitawali Rajkumari plays the maturer part. Harshita plays the title role of Julie in M Maniram’s ‘You Are Not My Julie’, which has been hold up for quite some time now for reasons unknown.
Just nine years of age, child artiste Harshita Utpal has already provided a series of delightful performances in serials like Raang channel’s ‘FIR’, ‘Sahu Buwari’, telefilms ‘Ashroi’, ‘Prem Mathu Anakuwa’ and 11 episodes of ‘Bharaghar’. Harshita first came to limelight as a cover girl of the popular Nandini magazine when she was hardly two and half years of age.
Harshita was only 5 years of years when she played the role of an anchor. She was also a part of calendar shoot as a model that was even appreciated in Canada. Besides acting, Harshita has received praises from the audiences for her delightful renditions on stage during Bihu functions and cultural programmes. She has worked as an anchor with Zubeen Garg in the popular DY365 programme ‘Mur Gaan Mur Pran’ when she was five and a half years of age. She has been a successful anchor with DY365’s Bihu Konwari programme as well. Besides acting, modelling and anchoring, Harshita has performed as a singer on stage and in various albums. She has lent her voice to Hindi albums like ‘Aapki Harshita’ and ‘North-East Kolabari’, which have appealed to listeners throughout the North East. Harshita has also played the leading role in 5 episodes of horror-based serial ‘Bhoi’ shown on Focus HiFi.
Interestingly, one of her songs from her upcoming Assamese album ‘Harshitar Gaan’ – ‘Anchori Bankori.’ has been released as an animation video in a popular satellite channel. The first Assamese song to be released as an animation video, ‘Anchori Bankori.’, musically composed by Ashim Das, generated popular appeal amongst viewers. The song featured Harshita Utpal with noted actor Mahananda Sarma.
