A new Assamese film looks rather promising and is expected to make some kind of a dent at the box office. Action-thriller ‘Dhow’ is scheduled to hit the big screens on January 29 next year.
The film revolves around two friends who struggle to find a way past the pain and mayhem in the aftermath of devastating flood in Dhemaji. The film loaded with ingredients like action, love, romance, sentiments, rivalry and more, is directed by Lakhinandan Pegu and Prabin Basumatary under the banner of LN Production. The filmmakers hope to genuinely surprise audiences with the film, made in the characteristic South Indian style. A big action sequence lasts for about 16 minutes. The sequence is directed by the well-known fight composer from South India, Sailen Roy.
The film uses the roofing method to show scenes of people and cars soaring up in the air. These taut, action-filled scenes were shot in Hyderabad, Chennai, Pondicherry, Bengaluru among others. The music is scored by Diganta Bharati. The five songs in the film are rendered by Zubeen Garg, Angarag Mahanta, Priyanka Bhorali, Zublee and Bornali Kalita. The film’s screenplay written by noted director-writer Munin Barua is based on a story by Lakhinandan Pegu. The film introduces raw and untapped young talent in Adi and Nivedita, who make their mark as the romantic pair.
Various other roles are enacted by Biki, Hiranya Das, Mriduljyoti Barua, Lipika Bora Medhi, Trisha Saikia, Balin Choudhury, Rajiv Doley, Pabitra Barua (Mintu), Taniya Padi, Mridusmita Gogoi, Manas Sarma, Rupachanda Sarma, Eesmita Bora, Prankrishna Mahanta, Dipali Doley, Manoj Gogoi, child artiste Fangshu, etc. The Mishing version of ‘Dhou’, ‘Asi Raag’ created waves across theatres in upper Assam. The film’s publicity has been designed by Focus Media.
