Assamese Film “Dur” in Post-Production Stage

Manab, a free-spirited artiste and an orphan, is fighting for his life in a hospital. The love of his life, Puja, is beside him. Memories come flashing back in her mind or are they realization of something ominous that had happened in the past? Something that changed their lives forever. This is the story of Dur. A story about love, relationships and most importantly realizations.

The film, treated through 10 different fights and its realizations in the second half is a unique treatment the writer-director has tried to play with. The film, without being preachy, dwells on the fact that life might not give us a second chance, a second chance to repent or correct our mistakes.

Cast and Crew of Dur

Written and directed by Kangkan Rajkhowa, and produced by cinematographer Biplab J. Doley, who is also director of photography, the film stars both new and old Assamese actors including Udayan Duarah, Amrita Gogoi, Achinta Shankar, Biju Phukhan, Bishnu Khargoria and Pratibha Gogoi. Its also one of the first Assamese movies to employ the Arri Alexa camera. The camera is currently used to shoot only big budget Bollywood and Hollywood productions. The production company was set up by Biplab Jyoti Doley, back in 2005, as a dream initiative in Shillong. The film has been completely shot in a record-breaking schedule of 12 days and is now in its postproduction stage. It’s due for release early next year. The film’s music has been composed by Siddharth Hazarika, while Nilutpal scores the background music. Souvik Phukan has worked as a mixing engineer. The DI of the film will be done inhouse by Shasanka Gogoi, while the final mixing will be done at LFE studios in Mumbai.
