Best Short Film Award for ‘Liakat’

The short film ‘Liakat’, produced by activist writer Gopal Jalan, under the banner of Jalan Films, and directed by Manjul Barua, has won the Best Short Film Award at the recently held International Shiva Mohotsav at the historic Siva Dol premises in Sivasagar. ‘Liakat’ (It rains in the end) took part in the film festival at the Shiva Mohotsav which had participations from various films from across the globe.

Meanwhile, the director Manjul Barua and the cinematographer Suman Duwarah won the Best Director and Best Cinematographer awards at the North East Film and Video Technicians Awards (NEFVTA) in its silver jubilee celebrations held recently. ‘Liakat’, the 19-minute short film, is based on a story by noted writer Manikuntala Bhattacharya, and stars artistes like Boloram Das, Mayukh Sarma, Kamal Lochan, Purnima Saikia and Chandan Bhuyan.
