Assamese film ‘Jajabor’ releases all over on October 9. The film directed by Rajib Sarma, an FTII alumni, and produced by Mousumi Sharma under the banner of Druv Films (Guwahati), is the only the year’s 6th Assamese release.
Rajib Sharma, a Mumbai-based cameraman, shot an experimental movie last year which inspired him to make this film with the help of some of his friends. ‘Jajabor’ is also the last feature film of veteran actor Lakhi Borthakur. Interestingly, the film was officially selected for the Nashik International Film Festival (NIFF), 2014.
The story is based on two generations – an irritating old man and an under confident young boy who spends 3 days and 3 nights together in a transit room. The film set in Tura, a small hill town in the northeastern part of India, in Meghalaya, features artistes like Lakhi Borthakur, Sasanka Samir Gogoi and Rijushmita Goswami, who makes her debut with this film. Director Rajib Sarma has also written the story and worked as a cinematographer in the film. The film is edited by Mahesh Ghanekar and Pranjul Kashyap. Sound designing and mixing are by Santosh Kumar and Devabrato Chaliha respectively. The music has been composed by Arup Jyoti Baruah. The songs with lyrics and tunes by Sasanka Sameer are rendered by Zubeen Garg and Tarun Tanmoy.
