New Assamese Film ‘Love in Tawang’

Tezpur’s Siddhartha Telefilms made its foray in movie production with ‘Mahasamar’ based on environment conservation, which was also a comeback feature for veteran director Jones Mohalia. After this 2013 movie, the production house is now making a new film entitled ‘Love in Tawang’, which centres around the theme of youthful love and romance. The film’s story, script, dialogues, lyrics and direction are by Dipak Nath. Apart from playing a very prominant role, Nath, a cultural activist of Tezpur, was the storywriter of ‘Mahasamar’. He was adjudged as the second best actor at the annual Rodali awards. In his directorial debut, Nath has given much emphasis to impeccable locations and music with an eye on the tastes and inclinations of the present day audiences. The film depicts an enduring love relationship between two die-hard lovers hailing from Assam and Arunachal. As informed by Nath, the film will make an attempt to bridge the cultural and emotional distance growing among various communities living in hills and plains.

Dhruba and Spaini in 'Love in Tawang'

Besides a number of local artistes, ‘Love in Tawang’ features three popular artistes from Monpa and Bhutanese cinema. The film was shot in locations that really offered breathtaking views like Tawang, Bhalukpong, Dirang besides a number of places in and around Tezpur, where almost 90 percent of the shoot was completed. Only a song remains to be picturised. The scenic beauty of Tawang has been exposed like never before.

The leading romantic pair in the movie is being played by newcomers, Dhruba and Spaini. Director Dipak Nath is quite pleased with their performances. Others in the casts of artistes are Arun Nath, Atul Pachoni, Subhash Mudok, Biswajeet Hazarika, Juri Devi, Simashree Bora, etc. The three artistes from Arunachal are Jambey Tenzin, Changtasi and Rizong Bey Tamblung.

Cinematographed by Hiten Thakuria, ‘Love in Tawang’s music is scored by Abhijit Barman and Dipak Nath. The film has 5 songs in all. Three of them are in Assamese, while the other two are in English and Hindi. The lyrics to all the songs are provided by Dipak Nath. The songs are rendered by Zubeen Garg, Dikshu, Priyanka Bhorali, Barnali Kalita, Manoj Kashyap, Satyasandha Hazarika and Kabita Das. The film will be edited by Diganta Khaund. Make-up is by Prashanta Bora. The film’s chief assistant director is Jayanta Sarma. Hemen Bora is the film’s production controller. Director Dipak Nath has also informed that ‘Love in Tawang’ will hit the theatres next year on February 12 just before Valentine’s Day, in compliance with the film’s theme.

  1. Songs of the film is good, (I’m saying only about audio part) .The film has been release. Hope it will be as like other bokwas assamese film. I miss the old assamese film anytime.
