Acclaimed actor and superstar of yesteryears, Nipon Goswami made new chairman of Jyoti Chitraban ( Film Studio) Society. Government of Assam appointed Goswami as the chairman via an order on 30th September.
Nipon Goswami debuted Assamese film industry as a child artist in a movie Piyali Phukan, directed by Phani Sarma in 1957. As a lead actor, Sangram was his first Assamese film and a hit movie. His next movie Dr. Bezbaruah released in 1969 brought him recognition as a star to act in many movies in coming years.
On the other hand, Government of Assam established the Jyoti Chitraban as a Govt. Studio in the year 1961 at Kahilipara against the scenic backdrop of the foothills of Narakasur Hills in an area of 10 acres of land. It was named after the pioneer of Assam Film Industry ,Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla.
