Multi-talented Assamese film director and actress Rajni Basumatary appointed recently as the brand ambassador of SVEEP campaign of Leh district for the forthcoming assembly elections scheduled to be held on November 25. It’s worth noting that SVEEP (Systematic Voters Education & Electoral Participation) is an initiative taken by Election Commission of India to promoting voter awareness among people.
Producer and director of well known and award winning Assamese movies like Anuraag and Raag respectively, and an actress of popular Bollywood movies like Bollywood movies like Mary Kom and Shaukeens, Rajni was earlier approached by the Deputy Commissioner of Leh, Simrandeep Singh. She accepted the offer and visited Leh district to participate in a few events for promotion of SVEEP.
Talking to KothaSobi.com she said,”I am indeed happy and feel privileged to be appointed by the district administration to be its Brand Ambassador to promote voting in and around Leh. We drove to interior villages along the world Famous Pangong lake distributing Smart Voter ID Cards. The Deputy Commissioner, Mr Simrandeep Singh organized a screening of ‘Mary Kom’ film to 500 students and teachers of various institutions of Leh. Other present dignitaries and myself spoke to the students the importance of electing one’s own representative. It was a exhilarating experience for me.”
