A popular face on stage, TV and films, Shiddhartha Mukherjee is currently one of the busiest artistes with a series of assignments on hand in big-budget, big banner Bengali movie productions, which are being helmed by popular and National Award-winning filmmakers. Mukherjee has been part of well over a dozen or so Bengali movie productions during the last five years, portraying a variety of roles, and catching public’s attention in a big way. Recently, he acted as a serious filmmaker in the new Bengali film ‘Nataker Motu’, directed by young theatre activist and filmmaker Devesh Chattopadhyay. The film delves much more into his character, and is a far cry from his usual stuff. His co-artistes in the film are Paoli Dam, Sashwat Chatterjee, Rajtav Dutta, Bratya Bose, Rupa Ganguli, Sujan Mukhopadhyay, etc. The film is slated to be released during October.
Known for his infectious enthusiasm and energy, Shiddhartha Mukherjee has worked with a number of stage stalwarts like Dilip Sarma, Bibhuranjan Choudhury, Anil Das, Naren Patgiri, Baharul Islam, Bhagirathi, Pabitra Rabha, famed amateur theatre groups like Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA), Theatre Guild, Seagull, Dapoon, etc. Not many know that Mukherjee is also an art director and a skillful reciting artiste.
