Model turned actress Dipandita Sharma is all set for her debut in Assamese cinema with ‘Xhoixobote Dhemalite’ (Rainbow Fields). The actress who recently won the Global Icon Award at Prag Cine Awards 2016 recently finished her shoot for this Assamese film.
Dipandita came into spotlight, after creating it to the ultimate five of the Miss India 1998 contest. In the same contest, she also won the ‘Miss Photogenic’ title. She made her grand Bollywood entry with the film ‘16 December’ in 2002. She has also appeared on the small screen show ‘Life Nahi Hai Laddoo’.
Born and brought up in the beautiful township of Duliajan, Dipandita was last seen in ‘Take it Easy’ (2015) and Pizza (2014). She has appeared in 10 Bollywood films and various television shows like ‘MTV – making the cut’, ‘Fear Factor – Khatron Ke Khiladi’, ‘Piya Kay Ghar Jana Hai’ among others.
‘Xhoixobote Dhemalite’ is the second feature film of Mumbai based Assamese film maker Bidyut Kotoky. Last year this film was selected for the second season of the prestigious Clinik Kathmandu. Clinik Kathmandu (CLINIK) is a script and project development program that bridges visual storytellers from nine countries in the PAN South Asian region.
Bidyut Kotoky made his feature film debut as writer-director with the bilingual film ‘Ekhon Nedekha Nadir Xipare’ (Assamese-Hindi), produced by NFDC. The film won various awards, including Best Script and Best Actor awards in the 2013 Washington DC South-Asian Film Festival and the Audience Choice Award in the 2014 North Carolina South-Asian film festival.
‘Xhoixobote Dhemalite’ too has been made as a bilingual film. The title of English version will be ‘Rainbow Fields’.
