‘Crossroads’: First Short Film by Deuka Films

Deuka Films is a group of young enthusiastic people of different cultural backgrounds which aims at making sensible films to entertain the mass. Tracing back its history, the group was founded by Vishal P. Chaliha, Arunav Baruah and Maharshi T. Kashyap in the year 2015. The first film made by Deuka Films is ‘Crossroads’. It’s a 3 minute short film which shows the harsh reality of a child who is left all alone in today’s society. The film’s direction and concept is by Maharshi T. Kashyap, cinematography by Sausthav, Moniroop, Arunav and Vishal. The editing is done by Bishal Sarmah and the music is given by Debayan Banerjee. The cast includes Mrinmoy Kalita, Harendra Nath Kalita, Jun Sarmah, Ishraque Rehman, Sankar Talukdar and Himakshi Kalita.

Recently, the film got its official selection at the Goldensun Short Film Festival held in Malta. It’s the first international selection of the film and the only film from Assam to get selected in the festival. The film was selected from amongst 1700 entries received from a number of countries. ‘Crossroads’ also bagged the Best Film award in the Real on Reel Short Film Competition organised by ‘Lumiere’, held at the Janki Devi Memorial College, New Delhi. The film was also adjudged the second best film in the Saraighat Film Festival in Guwahati.

Deuka Films is working on several other projects which are slated to release soon. Two of its other projects - ’Puhor’ and ‘Turnover’ have even got selected to the 11th Adda Short Film Festival.
