Prastuti Parashar Bags Best Actress Award at Dada Saheb Phalke Film Fest

“It feels as though my hard work has finally paid off. I am honoured to have this recognition bestowed on me at an international level. The team of ‘Mriganabhi’ has put a lot of effort into the project, and everyone is deserving of this award”, an elated Prastuti Parashar said. The well-known actress received the Best Actress award for Assamese film 'Mriganabhi' at the 6th Dada Saheb Phalke International Film Festival held in New Delhi recently.

The film directed by veteran filmmaker Hemen Das, focuses on the angst and frustrations of a deprived woman. The movie highlights the strength of women in society. Prastuti completely immersed herself in the character of Sontora in the film. Infact, she lived with this character for quite sometime even after the shooting was completed. “I will forever remember this role as the best in my career”, said Prastuti, who delivered an engaging performance in the film, based on a story by noted writer Dr Arupa Patangia Kalita.

'Mriganabhi’ was one of the 285 movies selected from among nearly 700 entries from various countries, including France, Russia, Japan, Spain, USA among others, for the competition section in this year’s Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival. Prastuti Parashar was present in person to receive her prize at the awards ceremony held at the Trivoli Grand Hotel in Delhi. The Best Film award was bagged by the Hindi film ‘Bajirao Mastani’. The award for Best Actor was won by Kamal Hassan for the Tamil film ‘The Pure Hearted Villain’. The Best Director award was bagged by Raj Gaur for the Marathi film ‘Boond’. Hemen Das was also in contention for the director’s prize. As informed by producer Bishnu Deka, ‘Mriganabhi’ has been scheduled for release sometime in October.
