Shabana Azmi Enthralls Crowds at G Plus Guwahati Theatre Festival

Recently, renowned actress Shabana Azmi enthralled audiences in the city with a power-packed performance in the play ‘Broken Images’ in the G Plus Guwahati Theatre Festival. The play is a one-character; one-act monologue exploring the crisis of identity that rips the mask off a celebrity. “The play is written too beautifully. It’s perfect and hence its performance is uniform and loved by all. In this sense, I would say the success of ‘Broken Images’ is a grace of God. Thanks Guwahati”, said Shabana.

The festival also featured plays like ‘Mother Courage’ and ‘Her Children’, directed by well-known director Quasar Thakore Padamsee, ‘The Gentlemen’s Club aka Tape’, ‘What’s Done is Done’ and ‘Piya Behrupiya’ – all from leading theatre production houses of Mumbai, featuring popular names like Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, Jim Sarbh, Trupti Khamkar, Sheena Khalid, Mukti Mohan, among others.

“We were overwhelmed with the response of the festival with packed shows, only indicating the appetite of our people for quality entertainment in performing arts,” expressed Sunit Jain, Managing Director and Publisher of G Plus, the English weekly of Guwahati and the Chairman of Guwahati Theatre Festival. Over the last 4 years, G Plus has also taken various initiatives to engage with the people of Guwahati like the Guwahati Food Awards, Campus Talks and the award winning Ward Talks which have been very well received by the people.
